I've Died and Gone to Burberry Heaven

Emma Watson plus new Burberry - can it get any more perfect?

When I first saw the Burberry Spring 2010 line, I was instantly in love. I wanted the entire collection - the new trenches which took new flirty shapes, the ruched mini-dresses, and of course, the bags. Add the brilliant Emma Watson in the mix, and now I need to save up more than ever.

Chanel Spring 2010

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian readers! I'm squeezing in a quick blog post here before I jet off for a family turkey dinner. I saw this gorgeous Spring 2010 Chanel RTW show posted on Style.com and I wanted to share some of my favourite looks with you. I must say sadly I currently own no Chanel items other than makeup, but a watch and classic quilted handbag is most definitely on my list!

Karl Lagerfield created a collection for a youthful, coquettish kind of girl. The setting was a country barn where models walked across a hay-strewn floor, looking slightly devious. The clothes were for the upscale girl gone country, perhaps out for a romp and a roll about in the French countryside.

The classic tweed skirt-and-jacket sets were there, in nude and beige shades (very on-trend) but in very short cuts (also very on-trend). I was crazy about the clunky clogs and wedge heels, as well as the criss-crossed hosery.

I loved the fun and slightly naughty spirit of the collection, and these are clothes that I would love to have in my closet. I also really enjoyed the fuller shapes of the dresses, which further highlighted a narrow waistline.

The two looks below remind me a little Kirsten Dunst's world in Marie Antoinette - completely sugary and frivolous, but just the kind of eye candy I love.

London Fashion Week - Burberry Prorsum

The Burberry Spring 2010 show marked a triumphant return to London for the house after 8 years in Milan. I have never seen so many beautiful and feminine variations of the classic military trench. In the past, I had not considered ever buying the iconic Burberry trench, but these new versions are tugging at my heart (purse) strings.

In my youth, I did not relate much to the Burberry brand, and thought of it as mostly stodgey. Now, along with the legions of celebrity fans such Emma Watson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, Victoria Beckham, and Mary-Kate Olsen (all seen at this closing show for London Fashion Week), I see the Burberry as young, sexy and seriously stylish.

The trenches came in all different materials and were cinched at the waist for a flattering figure. There was even a blue-silver sequined one. Puffy sleeves and twisted, ropey details were added to some of the coats for a modern take.

Designer Christopher Bailey gave us skirts and dresses with a lot of leg. Combined with drapey and ruched fabrics in soft nudes and pastels, a sexy yet classy femininity ruled his runway.

I also loved the platform heels and ruched clutch bags - perfect accessories for the modern city girl.
