We Raised $10K for Hope in Haiti and We Did It In Style

Photobucket
Hope in Haiti was held at Barcelona Ultra Lounge this past week. How did it go? Well, from the looks on Kelsey (The Anthology), and I, it was a smashing success.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who came out, a total of more than $10,000 was raised at the event through ticket sales, silent and live auctions, and of course from the hot Hope in Haiti tee (still on sale - contact theanthology@live.com). I paired it with a ruffle mini, slouchy boots, and a Piero Guidi handbag circa the early 90's.

The highlight of the night was no doubt a performance by Vancouver's own, WZRDZ, who energized the house with their electro beats. I was right up at the front, bopping alongside Kelly of Option 8.

There were lots of stylish bloggers in attendance, including my friends Teresa of Senses and Style and Lisa of Solo Lisa.

The awesome sister-duo, Lauren and Cara of Vincent Park, (boutique where I buy lots of great duds like this floral skirt and my motorcycle flat boots) showed their support.

I met Jordana for the first time from Being High Maintenance, Not Bitchy. I loved her time-piece necklace and grey eel-skin bag.

A big shout-out too should go to Larissa of The Extrovert, who was also behind this important fundraiser.

Epic Party in Vancity

Photobucket
Last Friday, I had a blast at the birthday and housewarming party of the lovely Allie from Vancity Allie. The cocktail party was EPIC! Since Allie is both a mixmaster of cocktails and a superb chef, it was a real treat. Check out her pictures here; warning though as it may make you hungry and thirsty.

Above: Allie, in her pink frilly dress, and me.

I had no idea what to wear up until Friday. Would it be my princess-y Betsey Johnson pink dress? Or maybe my new grey Built by Wendy sweater dress? I made a mad shopping dash at lunch and found this studded black bustier at one of my fave shops. I knew I had a few different mini skirts that would go with it (like the Diesel faux leather number below) but I needed something to keep me warm.

That's when I found this faux fur cropped jacket at H&M. I picked up some curly lucky bamboo as a gift and I was set to go.

At the party, I got to hang out with Raul from HummingBird604 (picture below), and met Richard from Canucks Hockey Blog and Greg of On the Rant Again (bottom picture). Lots of fun!

This week, I've got another horse to try and a nice dinner date to look forward to. I'll have some pictures from last week's horse trial up soon I promise!

Fashion + Peeps at Post Juno Awards Party

The Wasserman Entourage hit the town last night for EMI Music's Post Juno Awards Party Bash held at Players Chophouse.  We met up first at Chambar (pics below) before crossing the velvet rope to this invite-only party.  My girls styled it up and I had to get some snaps of them below.

Really loved the sparkly purple halter top - lovely details!  I am chanelling Olivia Newton-John and Blondie with my high waisted, ultra tight black vinyl leggings from Urban Outfitters, tucked-in white halter tank, black studded heart belt, and patent booties.  I've also got my much-prized Marc by Marc Jacobs Lock-It-Up oversized clutch.

Below: My British mate ever so stylish in a Paul Smith tuxedo jacket with velvet lapels, paired with white sneaks.  I'm crazy about the "British coins" detailing inside the jacket and the playful plaid lining the collar. Smooth, P, very smooth.

I found this group of deliciously dressed gals when we arrived at the party.  That pink dress by Guess by Marciano is very yummy.

Bah! Baked Goods

I love entertaining. I had a small holiday gathering at my house a couple of nights ago and I asked my dear cousin Wanda, chef at Bah! Baked At Home Catering, to put together some goodies for my guests. Wanda trained with Vancouver legendary chef Karen Barnaby and worked at the Fish House in Stanley Park for a number of years. We served an onion and leek tart, mini shepherd's pies, one bite triple chocolate brownies, mini vanilla cupcakes with lemon icing, and lavender vanilla tuille cookies. Wanda gave me some chai-spiced nuts too (perfect on their own or in a salad), and those were out. I rounded the party off with an antipasto platter and sushi.

Everyone loved the miniature sized bites, and the shepherd's pies were definitely a hit.

Many thanks to Wanda and Bah! Baked at Home for the help which made my party a snap!
