Totally Obsessed

There are so many amazing people out there with wonderful blogs, and one that I've been following quite religiously is Obsession Du Jour. The fiercely stylish red-head from Albany, Australia (she calls it the "most unfashionable city on the planet") strikes quirky poses in hand-picked vintage pieces and accessories she peddles at her EBay store.

Besides digging her pixie rocker style, I have total girl envy for her wild, red locks.

Can Anna Sui for Tar-jay Score an XOXO?

Following on the trend of other high fashion meets high street collabos (think Matthew Williamson for H&M, Kate Moss for Topshop, Alexander McQueen for Target), Target announced Anna Sui will launch her line for the affordable retailer on September 13. Inspired by CW's Gossip Girl, the line will only be available up to October 17.

How do you think Anna's interpretation of the Upper East Sider-meets-Pedestrian-Mallrat will pan out? Will it go girly-glam a la Blair Waldorf - think satin, bows and pearly trimmings or go Serena hobo-hippie with faded denim, fringe, and skimpy tank tops? I'd love to see Vanessa's edgy I'm-a-too-cool artist look, but as she's not a central character, slim chance that would happen. *sigh* I always loved the outsider/misfit the best.

Elizabeth James Pre-Fall Shoes

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have launched the pre-order for their new Pre-Fall shoe line. Available at Nordstroms ranging from $270 to $325.

What do you think? I was a little bit underwhelmed, but nonetheless could see myself sporting some of these styles, in particular the grey-blue wedge sling-ons.  The pewter gladiator heel sandal too, could find a home in my closet.  Both would definitely add some height to my miniaturesque stature!

Vintage Treasure of the Week: Bonzie

I've been spending more time on Etsy lately, scoping out treasures and one-of-a kind items.  I stumbled across Bonzie, an aunt-and-niece deisgn duo from Ireland creating gorgeous Victorian inspired pieces from recyled and vintage materials.  Their frilly boleros, corsets and wraps are utterly romantic, and I soo wish I had found them when I was married as it would have gone so gorgeously with my Alvina Valenta gown (picture below).  Their blog features some of their latest creations in gorgeous settings.

What I love about Bonzie's whimsical pieces is that they can go girly and romantic, or be punked-up in bad-ass gothic way.  Looks like I'll be saving up for one of these wearable art pieces as my next fab buy.

Marrakesh Express

Marrakesh Express
I dream of clay-baked cobbled streets and sweltering nights. I dream of vibrant markets where caravans have traveled to for thousands of years, and artisans bartering for tea, silverware and spices. I dream of Marrakesh.

Inspired by Anna Sui's summer collection.

Double Dutch Royal Affair

Ever since I read Girl with a Pearl Earring, I've been very interested in Dutch art.  Lucky for me, the Vancouver Art Gallery will be presenting "Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum" from May 10 - September 14.   120 of the finest in Dutch art during this era will be on display.  The Dutch Masters Ball will welcome in the exhibit with a royal bang with a champagne toast to Their Highnesses Princess Marilene and Prince Maurit vans Oranje-Nassau, van Vollenhoven of The Netherlands.  A black-tie dinner, auction, and dancing are to follow.

What might I wear if I could attend this royal affair?  Some of my picks below.

This one-shouldered Grecian style black gown is fit for a goddess, so why not the Royal Couple? Pair with some giant emeralds a la Angelina Jolie for extra glam.  Dress by Tibi

Watercolour inspired palette makes this a sweeping masterpiece.  By Fiumicelli.

Moody and abstract, kind of like Colin Firth's Vermeer.  Dress by Vince.

Ok, I have no good reason to pick this other than it would look devastating sexy against bronzed legs. One-shouldered lace dress by Camilla and Marc.

I will be hitting up the show soon so keep posted on my review as well as what I end up wearing.
